Partners in Change is a borough-wide collaboration led by Parentsactive to amplify the voices of residents who are too often unheard, including disabled people, parent carers, and vulnerable communities. Commissioned in 2023 by H&F’s Education and SEND leadership, the initiative convenes voluntary sector partners, Health, and Children’s/Adults’ Services to turn real-world insights into practical improvements.
The aim of the Partners in Change initiative is to reflect the wider resident voice beyond Parentsactive’s membership. Every voluntary sector organisation supports residents in different ways. Partners in Change brings together organisations who work with residents to reflect the voices of residents they support. Parentsactive is commissioned to coordinate and chair the meetings as well as monitor the outcomes of the meetings. There are 7 organisations in partnership at the moment with the Local Authority and Health attending the meetings. Other organisations are invited to contribute based on the theme of the meetings.
Why this matters
Families tell us they face gaps, duplication, and unclear routes through support. Partners in Change brings the right people into the same room, focuses on specific challenges, and co-creates solutions that are realistic, timely, and measurable.
Our aims
- Increase understanding & awareness across agencies about what support exists and how to access it.
- Identify gaps by mapping lived experience against current provision.
- Strengthen relationships so organisations collaborate rather than work in silos.
- Create solutions that address what families actually need — not just what systems can easily offer.
